Step 3d - Acts of service

By acts of service we mean doing things that your partner likes, that make him or her feel loved. You want to please him or her by serving, expressing your love by doing things for him or her.

Variants

The list of variants is very long. It takes thought, planning, time, effort and energy. Some examples:
  • Cooking
  • Washing
  • Ironing
  • Vacuuming
  • Car wash
  • Take out the garbage
  • Mow the lawn
  • Walking your dog
  • Changing the cat box
  • Making the bed
  • Putting shoes in the closet
  • Peeing sitting down as a man
  • Etc
If you want to know if your partner has the love language serve, you can discover this by regularly asking, “What can I help you with?”

1950s thinking

Due to sociological changes, there is no longer a general stereotypical image of the roles of men and women in our society. All stereotypes have not disappeared, some are persistent and can make a loving relationship difficult.

Action:

  • Take some time to let acts of service sink in on you as a love language.
  • Write down how you experience acts of service and how you think your partner experiences them.
